Along with Sharp's Tarps, we had the opportunity to host the Marine Fabricators Association Southwest Reginal Conference September 23 and 24. In total, we have 44 attendees including vendors and fabricators from around the country. Many of the vendors shared new products they are releasing this coming year along with sharing things they have been carrying and we may not have known about.
We started the seminars from Steve Malone on profit and loss followed by a quick shop tour of sharps tarps and chatting with all teh venders. Then Ben with Danes Sewing showing us how to maintain our sewing machines along with recognizing common issues. Later that day we had an unofficial dinner with the everyone who wanted to attend and have many laughs a good story telling from our beloved Steve Griffith from Marine Tops Unlimited.
The following day We opened the topics with Doc Bertson of Bernco Media teaching us about basics of content marketing. we then had Mark Peterson from Sugar House Awning teach us how they have established and keep best practice standards and used them to manage 50 boats a week go through their shop in peak season. Dale Hancock then shared with us his technique of patterning boat cushions not using the old skins. We took a short break for lunch then I (Clint Halladay) got my turn to share what we have learned in team building. Following my wonderful and profound seminar Scott Jones of Sharps Tarps and Steve Griffith of Xtreme Seal, shared their knowledge of pattern medium, going over using canvas, canvex, and paper to make your pattern. Clouse us out Justin Jones of InDats went over a project management software used by us, Sewlong - Custom Covers, that helps in all of our day-to-day processes.
All in all, if you didn't attend you missed out. Every time we attend one of these events we walk away would something of value, this time, was no different, new products from the vendors and new ideas from all the amazing people who attended.
